Jeremy Madden as my lecturer (I feel I should also refer to him as a mentor) the major aspect to his excellence in teaching is the diversity of his skills and the variety of teaching approaches he needs to use in order to nourish the diversity of the potential of students.

During my time at Letterfrack, on more than one occasion I have gone to Jeremys office or met him in the corridor with a problem, invariably he might be in a hurry to a lecture or a meeting, but rather than cut you off, or insist you come back later he would say, “walk with me” and so you would have your four or five minutes to explain your predicament. A solution would be offered on the spot, or a meeting arranged for later in the day. Walk with me is something that has stuck with me about Jeremy, he guided us, encouraged self-learning and critical thinking, he rejoiced in our triumphs and consoled us when we made disastrous mistakes….. they were never mistakes anyway….merely a work in progress.

Jeremy is exceptionally skilled in encouraging students to reach their full potential and ensuring that they don’t accept anything other than perfection when doing a project. Jeremy is particularly good when it comes to feedback during the design process and has a way of encouraging you to explore other options and employ out-of-the-box thinking when you may think you have come to a dead end with a design. Jeremy encourages students to become deeply engaged with any project they undertake and to explore and research from many different angles, Jeremy has a way of making students view their work critically (in a good way) in order to achieve an end product they are proud of and has met the initial brief
Katharine Griffith Graduate
Jeremy had a distinct ability to ground ideas, give student concepts direction towards their objective, and ultimately help us believe in our ideas relative to brief.

Dr. Susan Rogers GMIT
I found his pedagogical approach to T&L within disciplinary domain to be imaginative, innovative, flexible and student-centred. He demonstrates a highly evolved understanding of current educational theory, modality and methodology, and implements diverse approaches within his educational delivery and practice
Colin Deevy (Director of Research - designCORE)
Jeremy’s collaborative work is evidence that breaking down institutional silos and working across disciplines can have strong benefits when dealing with the development of Design Education and Enterprise in Ireland.
Dr. Adam de Eyto – Head, School of Design, University of Limerick, Ireland.
In my dealings with Jeremy, I have found him to be extremely passionate about his role as educator, hungry for insights and guidance and self-improvement, and eager to seek continuous improvements for the sake of the students and their experiences.
